"Am südlichsten Punkt Italiens, im Osten Siziliens, mit einem malerischen Blick auf die kleine historische Stadt Ragusa und rund 20 Minuten Autofahrt vom Meer entfernt, liegen die Ländereien unseres Bauherren. In den nächsten Jahrzehnten wird er hier in den mediterranen Hügeln der Insel, ein einzigartiges Resort entwickeln.
In einem gemeinsamen Workshop vor Ort und in Projektarbeiten entstanden sowohl ein Masterplan der gesamten Anlage, der das Nebeneinander von permakultureller Landwirtschaft und touristischen Nutzungen verhandelt und zu einem Resort zusammenführt, als auch indivuduelle Entwürfe für einzigartige Ferienhäuser und ein Spa."

The design creates in the steep south-west slope of the property, an introverted retreat for two people. Through the curvilinear removal of rock, by means of a micro-tunneling drill, a tubular space is created here in the rock, which cuts through the topography precisely so that it opens up in varying ways. The different spatial qualities thus created are assigned in logical order to the various
different zones of use are assigned in logical order. Towards the south, the tunnel opens towards Ibla as a dining area and terrace with pool, while cooking and living areas face the privacy of the mountain interior. A second vertical hole intersects the tunnel laterally. The result is a bedroom that opens exclusively to the sky and is enclosed by the rock. As a north-western end, the bathroom opens to the nature of the canyon.assigned to different zones of use. My role in the realisation of this group work was to develop the concept and the inner hierarchy of the space. The representations and the production of the three models took place in collaborative and mutually supportive work.
